Dot. com to Dot. bomb

When the internet commerce industry was in its infancy, many companies tried to get in on the ground floor and make $$$. The presentation in the class easily put these experiences that these companies went through into a tangible view. Watching dinosaurs lumber around, unable to get out of their own way, and being trampled by the smarter and more dexterous companies was an excellent way to demonstrate the dotcom to dot bomb experience. Seeing names of companies that no longer exist and the now adamantite encrusted companies that have risen to top enabled me to visualize the rapid change that industries go through. I compared this bubble and bust to the housing bubble, where it was buy buy buy even if the house was overpriced. Sooner or later the bubble bursts and you are left with economic destruction, and a change in the way companies do business.

A Visited From Erik Hanberg

On we had a guest speaker, Erik Hanberg. He told the class about his life and his experience as an entrepreneur and about entrepreneur’s lifestyle in general. It was interesting to hear about his struggles and success; it was something to learn from. He also published books and magazines. His whole presentation was about how he has used the internet to help contribute to his success. He has written several books and has used the internet to get them out there. He gave some good advice such as, "Don't be afraid to fail," and "Enjoy the work."

3 Things I Would Not Buy Online

First of all I am a super big fan of buy things online. I have get almost 80% cloth that I bought them online. If I have to choose three things I would not buy, those might be cosmetics house and used car I wont buy cosmetics online. I have bought a fake brand eye shadow on amazon once beacause it was 5 dollar cheaper than it sell in Sephora and it was free shipping. Since that happened i wont but cosmetics online anymore. Second thing I would not buy is house. House is where you live could be a whole life, i want my house is prefect so i have to check it in person before I decide to buy it. Third thing that i would not buy is used car. There are some people sell their used car online just because it have some problem but they wont tell you. I think i wont pay before test drive that car.

Internet Scavenger Hunt

On monday Nov, Mr Fry gave us a list of 19 items we had to find on-line and send him the URL's to the info. We have been separated into groups. At first i thought it is boring however, after I get first answer online then I would say i am in it. As i remember there were some questions are not that easier to found its like, "what is my second sister merry name", the questions like these took us almost an hour to finished it but i still don't know whether we got it right. I would say it was a wonderful experience!

EPIC Predictions

It was entertaining to see the predictions from about 10 years ago. Some were reasonable and even somewhat true, and others were quite funny to hear, such as, Googlezon. Below are some of the major predictions and realities that came from Epic. Reality: Tim Berners-Lee - Created World Wide Web Amazon - Created - 1994 Google - Created - 1998 Blogger - Created - 1999 Friendster - Created - 2002 Prediction: Googlezon - The merging of Google and Amazon never happened. Google Grid - The "grid" never happened, but google does allow quite a bit of file storage for free, for it users. New York Times - No more online paper, only to elderly or elites.
